Over the summer I was able to sit down with Najeh Davenport and conduct a second interview with the talented FB/RB prospect from Miami. Najeh has started off his senior season with the Canes by displaying punishing blocking, soft hands, break away speed, and the versatility that has him near the top at both the RB and FB positions. He is a great talent and a great person. Below is some info on Najeh, followed by our interview.

Q: Najeh, what do you have planned for this summer?

N.D.: I'm going to have a busy summer. I'll be doing alot of working out for football and I'm running the 100 and 200 meters for our track team. I'll be busy.

Q: What kind of training will you be doing?

N.D.: I'll be doing anything and everything to make myself a better player. Our head trainer beats us into shape. The first few weeks are the roughest, but once we get familiar with everything, it's easy. He'll make a man out of us for sure.

Q: Have you made the adjustment to the FB position yet?

N.D.: I have, but I am a RB. I don't know of too many FB's that run a 4.3-4.4 forty. It's my senior year and I'd like to be the full time starting RB, but I also want to do what it takes to help the team win. According to the coaches, they plan on getting me the ball alot. We'll see.

Q: What are your goals for the next 12 months?

N.D.: I want to win a National title and make it to the NFL.

Q: Are you willing to play FB in the NFL?

N.D.: It don't matter. I just want to get on the field. Regardless if I am playing FB or RB, I will give my all every down. I know I have the skills to play at the next level. I look at myself as a bigger, faster version of Edge(Edgerrin James).

Q: Do you talk to Edge alot?

N.D.: Yeah. I talk to him and alot of other guys like Bubba, Dan, Santana, and the rest of the guys. They came back to work out with us.

Q: How's your daughter?

N.D.: She's good. I go and pick her up everyday from daycare. She's a big part of my life. She comes to the games and roots me on. It's funny because sometimes she'll say stuff like, "Daddy, I see you on TV." She thinks she's 20. It's great.

Q: Are you ready to get the season going?

N.D.: Oh Yeah! I want to go now. This is my last year. I want to make the best out of it.

M.G.: Najeh, it was a pleasure. Thanks for talking and good luck! I'll hollar later in the year.

N.D.: Thanks Matt!

I'd like to thank Najeh again for taking time to talk with me. Good Luck the rest of the way and in the NFL!!!
